It's hard not to buy Harbor Freight - you can literally get like 50+ saws for that the Festool costs. Buy a spare and keep in in the truck. Throw them out when they piss you off. If you really don't care about brand loyalty, you really have to be Bauer,

when Dewalt discontinued their 28 Volt line of tools and I could not get any battery anymore I was really pissed. I bought the 28 Volt Dewalt tracksaw so that I would not be tethered to the 120 Volt circuit. Dewalt totally orphaned their 28 Volt line of tools in which people invested big bucks into it. I am suspicious of Dewalt marketing from now on. Witness their marketing of various models of same volt batteries but with different names to make it seem they are different and one is better but at higher cost but performance marginal one over the other.

Sorry to hear you were treated that way. Back when dewalt moved from 18v to 20v I was ready for a changed and had planned on going red. I still had one drill that was in pretty new and in good shape but something failed on it. So I decided to get it fixed but I was still going to make the change. The service I received and the value of the repair are the reasons I decided to stay with dewalt. Any time I have to get something repaired or replaced I always seem to spend less than I thought and walk away with a better valued tool than I walk in with. I wish you the best of luck with whatever platform you moved to. I’m pretty happen with the way I’ve been treated.

Only DeWalt Tool I own is a corded orbital sander. I've had a Makita one for many years, which still works after heavy use painting and refinishing. Was out of town on a job and needed a second for sanding edges and around posts of a 3000+ sq foot deck.... hardware store had the DeWalt. The Makita has sanded endless siding, edges of hardwood floor refinishes and everything else for ten years, the pad on the bottom that holds the hook and loop discs has been replaced twice (on its third pad). The DeWalt went bad after that one job.... vibrates buts stops spinning Junk.

To me, in my crown installation history, most typical crown is a 32°/ 52° "spring" and some crown is a 45° "spring", to which a 45° crown is the installers discretion, and the "typical" 32/58 install being the 38° is installed against the vertical...

If you are removing a newer style box, the nails that hold it to the stud are at the TOP AND BOTTOM of the box, angled down. How do you cut thru those nails without making a hole in the wall larger than the old junction box?? Or do you NEED to make it larger and just have a larger hole to patch?

Well, I had a terrible experience with milwaukee about 15 years ago, 2 tools died within about a month. I went Dewalt and have never had something fail. Now they are both good brands. But I do not blame dewalt for not fixing aftermarket fence. That was bad that they did the damage. Too bad you didnt catch it while picking it up. My guess is youve put thousands of hours on all your other dewalt tools with zero issues. To do a full snap over a fence and 1 bad tool seems a bit knee jerk. But get whatever you feel good about. Eventually you will run out of brands. Think of your battery costs as well. Good luck--

Hello Richard, I’m looking to do the work you do on this channel and putting together some kit. Currently have the Milwaukee M18 15 gauge nailer and looking to add an 18 gauge nailer. Looking at the M18 model or the newer M12 model. Only downside with the M12 being that it shoots max 1 1/2 inch nails. Could you please guide me in which way I should go?

I don't care what you do, it will happen again next year. It will expand in the spring and summer, then it will shrink in the winter as soon as the clients crank up the heat. It happens every year and I explain it to them and make sure they are okay with it. In the future you could mill your own T&G out of MDF, eliminating any chance of expansion and contraction.
